This series comprises record retained by the Rev. Fredrik A. Schiotz when he was president emeritus of The American Lutheran Church (TALC). Pastor Schiotz maintained an office in the Augsburg Publishing House building. The records are from 1934-1981 with the bulk dating from 1971-1975. Record types include handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, brochures, reports, booklets, news articles, minutes, agenda, and circular letters. The bulk of records is correspondence. Pastor Schiotz corresponded on a variety of topics as he was frequently asked to attend various programs, conferences, and worship services. In addition to subjects involving speaking engagements and travel arrangements, records also pertain to social justice issues, letters of reference, invitation responses, letters of condolence, current events such as the Vietnam War and Watergate, church doctrine, evangelism, and the sesquicentennial commemorating the first organized Norwegian immigration to the United States. Pastor Schiotz served on the central coordinating committee planning events for the sesquicentennial.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church.
